Committees/Task Forces

GCED Ambassadors

This committee is comprised of local business professionals from member organizations.  They represent the Chamber and the community at special events (i.e. Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies, Ground Breaking Ceremonies, Community Events, etc.).  They also work to ensure that new members feel welcome both in the Chamber and the community.

Annual Dinner Task Force

The members of this Task Force plan, fundraise, and organize what is typically the most formal event of the year.  At the event, awards are made to those businesses and individuals earning the following designations:

  • Ambassador of the Year
  • Business of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year
  • Educator of the Year

GCED Annual Golf Outing Task Force

One of the best networking events of the year, the GCED Annual Golf Outing is held every summer.  The Task Force is responsible for the planning and successful execution of the important Chamber fundraising event.

DC-G Graduating Senior Scholarship Fund Task Force

This group of member representatives is charged with determining the amount of funds that GCED provides to local graduating seniors from the Dallas Center/Grimes Community School District for post-secondary scholarships.

Teacher Appreciation Volunteer Committee

The members of Grimes Chamber & Economic Development recognize that our community is served by one of the best school districts in Iowa.  To that end, they are very appreciative of the level of professionalism and the amount of work our local educators put into ensuring that the next generation is prepared to enter the increasing demands of the modern workforce.   Every year the Teacher Appreciation Volunteer Committee is charged with successfully administering the cookie distribution to our local schools to help recognize the hard work the administration is doing for our community!

Holiday Celebration Committee

The Holiday Celebration Committee organizes and administers this event, where the main attraction is hosting a very important and recognizable couple; Santa & Mrs. Claus.  This event is generally held in early December.

Governors Days Committee

Governors Days is the largest community event of the summer in Grimes, Iowa.  It is intended as a celebration of community and an opportunity to pay homage to our City’s namesake, the Honorable James W. Grimes, third Governor and noted U.S. Senator from the great state of Iowa.  This Committee works every year to ensure that a fun and safe celebration occurs so that neighbors can meet neighbors and we can continue to build on our community pride.
