Community Involvement

Hello Grimes! My name is Ben Butzke and I am the 2020 Board Chair for Grimes Chamber and Economic Development. I am proud to be a dual Chamber member through my wife’s dance studio, Inspiring Dance, and my new business venture, Butzke Burch Construction. Jacque and I have owned Inspiring Dance in Grimes for almost 10 years and Butzke Burch Construction is newly opened in 2020. We have lived in Grimes with our three kids for two years and have really enjoyed becoming more connected to our community.

Inspiring Dance has been a Grimes Chamber member since we opened in 2010 but we didn’t become actively involved for quite some time. I suppose we had the mindset that Chamber events were just for business to business companies and that didn’t fit with our marketing strategy. In 2017 we were approached about getting more out of our Chamber membership. After joining the board of directors in 2018 I realized a very simple side benefit, community involvement.

Although I didn’t do business with every banker, realtor, contractor or chiropractor I met at Chamber events, I did start to build personal relationships with others that love and call Grimes home. This has since led to additional leadership and volunteer opportunities, creating a broader and more positive reach for our family business. I bet there are others in our community that have had this same Chamber misconception. If you get anything out of this, I hope that you realize there is a place in Grimes Chamber and Economic Development for all types of businesses.

I recognize all that the Chamber has to offer and am proud to have Butzke Burch Construction as part of the Chamber. Butzke Burch Construction is a commercial general contracting firm and Grimes couldn’t be a better city for us to focus on. New businesses are opening here on a regular basis and new commercial development is happening in every part of the city. As a resident of Grimes, I am excited to hear about each new business coming to our town, and as a general contractor it is a dream of mine to help shape the growth of our community.

I am excited for the future of Grimes and I’d like to give you this challenge: Take advantage of the value that the Chamber provides by meeting new people, expanding your network and volunteering your time to make our community better.

Follow the Chamber’s social media accounts to hear about our upcoming events and all the new businesses joining. Don’t forget to mark June 11th-13th on your calendars for Governor’s Days 2020. I am looking forward to seeing you at one of our great networking or community events soon!
